In a tightly contested Week 2 matchup of the 2026 season, the Houston Texans narrowly defeated the Cincinnati Bengals with a final score of 21-14. Both teams entered the game looking to establish dominance early in the season, but it was the Texans who came away with a crucial victory at home. Joe Burrow was the standout for the Bengals, throwing for 178 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to make plays under pressure. However, it was David Montgomery of the Texans who stole the show on the ground, rushing for 99 yards and consistently moving the chains. Ja'Marr Chase contributed with 78 receiving yards, but the Bengals' offense struggled to find rhythm against a stout Texans defense. Defensively, Houston's Reed Blankenship made a significant impact with two interceptions, turning the tide in favor of the Texans. Kayden McDonald added a sack to the mix, applying pressure on Burrow when it mattered most. The turning point came late in the second half when Blankenship's second pick set up a crucial touchdown that ultimately sealed the victory for Houston.
