In a commanding display to kick off the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams with a final score of 28-7. With both teams eager to establish their dominance early in the year, the 49ers made a strong statement as they look to contend for the playoffs. Matthew Stafford led the charge for San Francisco, throwing for 286 yards and four touchdown passes, showcasing his ability to spread the ball effectively. Jerry Rice was his favorite target, racking up an impressive 116 receiving yards, while the rest of the offense executed well to maintain momentum throughout the game. The Rams struggled to keep pace, with Jahmyr Gibbs leading their ground game but only managing 57 rushing yards. Defensively, San Francisco made significant impacts, with Kain Medrano snagging an interception and Art Green leading the team with three tackles. The game's turning point came in the second quarter when Medrano's interception halted a Rams drive, allowing the 49ers to extend their lead. The pressure from the 49ers' defense consistently disrupted the Rams' rhythm, ultimately sealing the game and setting the tone for the season ahead.
