In a decisive Week 17 matchup, the Detroit Lions topped the Chicago Bears with a commanding 34-13 victory, solidifying their playoff hopes as the regular season winds down. The Lions showcased their offensive prowess, leaving the Bears struggling to keep pace in this crucial game. Jared Goff was the standout performer for Detroit, throwing for an impressive 403 yards and three touchdowns, demonstrating his ability to connect with his receivers at key moments. Jameson Williams emerged as his top target, racking up 177 receiving yards, while Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly on the ground with 69 rushing yards, helping to keep the Bears' defense on their heels throughout the contest. Defensively, the Bears were led by Montez Sweat, who tallied eight total tackles and registered 1.5 sacks, but it wasn't enough to slow down the Lions' offensive onslaught. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Goff connected with Williams for a long touchdown, extending the Lions' lead and putting the Bears in a difficult position from which they could not recover. Detroit's defense held firm, allowing minimal scoring opportunities in the second half and sealing the win with a strong performance overall.
