In a tightly contested matchup, the Las Vegas Raiders held off the Washington Commanders with a final score of 23-16, improving their record to 2-0 on the season. This Week 2 clash was critical for both teams as they aimed to establish momentum early in the year. Offensively, Fernando Mendoza led the charge for the Raiders, throwing for 200 yards and a touchdown, while Ashton Jeanty showcased his skills on the ground with an impressive 110 rushing yards. Dont'e Thornton Jr. was a reliable target for Mendoza, racking up 83 receiving yards, helping to keep the chains moving and the drives alive. Defensively, the Raiders made key stops, with Nakobe Dean leading the team with eight total tackles. Their defense was instrumental in limiting the Commanders' scoring opportunities, especially in the second half, where a pivotal interception swayed momentum firmly in Las Vegas' favor. Despite Odafe Oweh’s two sacks for Washington, the Raiders' balanced attack proved too much, allowing them to secure the victory.
