In a thrilling showdown in Week 6 of the 2026 season, the Washington Commanders narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers, with a final score of 38-35. Both teams entered the matchup looking to establish momentum, but it was the Commanders who ultimately secured the victory in a game that lived up to its high stakes. Offensively, Jayden Daniels led the Commanders with a stellar performance, throwing for three touchdowns and showcasing his ability to find the end zone. Antonio Williams was a standout receiver, racking up an impressive 217 receiving yards, making crucial catches that kept Washington's drives alive. Despite the efforts of Brock Purdy, who threw for 323 yards for the 49ers, it wasn’t enough to clinch the win. Defensively, the Commanders made key plays that turned the tide of the game. Mike Sainristil's six total tackles and Daron Payne's sack added to a defensive effort that applied constant pressure on Purdy. The pivotal moment came late in the fourth quarter when Fred Warner intercepted a pass, but the 49ers couldn't capitalize on the turnover, allowing Washington to hold off San Francisco and secure the victory.
