In a nail-biter to kick off the 2027 season, the Indianapolis Colts narrowly defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers by a score of 13-12. With both teams vying for an early advantage in the season, the Colts managed to hold off the Buccaneers in a tightly contested matchup. Baker Mayfield led the Buccaneers with a solid performance, throwing for 212 yards, but it was Anthony Richardson Sr. who emerged as the difference-maker for the Colts, tossing a touchdown pass that ultimately proved decisive. Jonathan Taylor added a strong ground game with 84 rushing yards, while Darnell Mooney was a key target in the air, racking up 71 receiving yards. Defensively, the Colts excelled, with Charvarius Ward Sr. leading the way with seven total tackles, while Ifeatu Melifonwu made his presence felt with two sacks. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Colts' defense stifled a potential game-winning drive from Tampa Bay, sealing the victory and starting the season on a high note for Indianapolis.
