In a closely contested matchup, the Seattle Seahawks narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 21-17, solidifying their position in the competitive NFC West. This Week 5 showdown was crucial for both teams as they look to establish momentum early in the season. Sam Darnold shone for the Seahawks, throwing for two touchdown passes that proved pivotal in securing the win. Meanwhile, Brock Purdy led the 49ers in passing yards with 195, but it was Christian McCaffrey's impressive performance on the ground, racking up 132 rushing yards, that kept San Francisco in the game. Ricky Pearsall contributed with 69 receiving yards, adding to the 49ers' offensive efforts. Defensively, Nick Emmanwori was a standout for Seattle, recording nine total tackles and a crucial sack that helped stifle the 49ers' late-game drives. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Emmanwori's pressure forced a turnover on downs, allowing the Seahawks to maintain their lead and ultimately secure the victory. Seattle's defense proved to be the backbone of their success, making key stops when it mattered most.
