In a commanding season opener, the Philadelphia Eagles topped the Houston Texans 42-17, showcasing their dominance on both sides of the ball. With high expectations heading into the 2028 season, the Eagles made a strong statement, leaving the Texans searching for answers. Saquon Barkley was the standout for Philadelphia, racking up an impressive 209 rushing yards and finding the end zone, while quarterback Julian Sayin led the Texans' passing attack, throwing for 307 yards and two touchdowns. Houston's Bryant Wesco Jr. was a bright spot in the receiving game, accumulating 168 yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with the Eagles' explosive offense. Defensively, Jihaad Campbell shined for Philadelphia, contributing four total tackles and an interception that swung momentum in the Eagles' favor. Michael Carter II added to the pressure on Houston's offense with a critical sack, as the Eagles’ defense played a key role in stifling any hopes of a Texans comeback. The game turned decisively in the Eagles' favor early in the second half, when they capitalized on a Houston turnover, extending their lead and ultimately sealing the victory.
