In a thrilling Week 2 matchup of the 2028 season, the Arizona Cardinals narrowly defeated the New Orleans Saints with a final score of 39-35. Both teams were looking to secure an early-season victory, but it was Arizona that emerged victorious in a high-scoring affair. Brock Purdy led the Cardinals' offensive charge, throwing for an impressive 377 yards and five touchdowns, showcasing his accuracy and poise under pressure. On the receiving end, Trey McBride was a standout with 146 yards, making crucial catches that kept drives alive. Meanwhile, Ashton Jeanty shone for the Saints, rushing for a staggering 257 yards, but it ultimately wasn’t enough to clinch the win. Defensively, the Cardinals had a few key contributors, with Bryce Fitzgerald leading the team in tackles with five. The turning point came late in the game when Sean Murphy-Bunting intercepted a pass, halting a potential game-winning drive for the Saints and allowing Arizona to maintain their slim lead. Daron Payne's two sacks for New Orleans kept the pressure on Purdy, but the Cardinals' offense proved too potent when it mattered most.
