In a commanding performance, the Jacksonville Jaguars topped the Indianapolis Colts 26-12 in their season opener, setting the tone for the 2028 campaign. This win not only gives Jacksonville an early lead in the standings but also showcases their potential as serious contenders this year. Trevor Lawrence led the charge for the Jaguars, throwing for 298 yards and a touchdown, while Brenton Strange emerged as a key target with 104 receiving yards. Jonathan Taylor put up a strong effort for the Colts, rushing for 84 yards, but the Indianapolis offense struggled to find its rhythm against a stout Jacksonville defense. While the Jaguars celebrated their offensive prowess, it was their defensive discipline that truly shaped the game. Travon Walker’s half-sack and the interception from Mekhi Blackmon were pivotal moments that disrupted the Colts' momentum. With Dre Greenlaw amassing eight tackles for Indianapolis, the Colts' defense fought valiantly, but Jacksonville's balanced attack proved too much to handle, sealing the victory.
