In a thrilling season opener, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers narrowly defeated the Carolina Panthers 33-27, kicking off the 2027 campaign with a hard-fought victory. Both teams showcased their offensive talents, but it was the Buccaneers who ultimately held off a late surge from Carolina to secure the win. Bryce Young had a standout performance for the Panthers, throwing for an impressive 311 yards and four touchdowns. His top target, Parker Washington, racked up 159 receiving yards, proving to be a consistent threat throughout the game. Meanwhile, RJ Harvey led the Buccaneers on the ground with 93 rushing yards, providing a balanced attack that kept the Panthers' defense on their heels. Defensively, the Panthers made some key plays, highlighted by Chau Smith-Wade's two interceptions and Byron Young's sack, but it was not enough to swing the momentum in their favor. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Buccaneers' defense stifled a promising Panthers drive, allowing Tampa Bay to maintain their narrow lead and ultimately seal the victory.
