In a commanding performance, the Houston Texans topped the Jacksonville Jaguars 28-7 in Week 1 of the 2027 season. This victory sets a strong tone for the Texans as they look to establish themselves early in the season, while the Jaguars will need to regroup after a disappointing start. C.J. Stroud led the charge for Houston, throwing for two touchdowns and effectively managing the game's pace. Woody Marks contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 84 rushing yards, while the Texans' offense showcased a balanced attack that kept the Jaguars' defense on their heels. Trevor Lawrence put up decent numbers with 216 passing yards but struggled to find the end zone. Defensively, the Texans were relentless, with Derek Stingley Jr. making a game-changing impact with three interceptions that thwarted any momentum the Jaguars tried to build. Sheldon Rankins added to the pressure with a sack, further complicating Jacksonville's offensive efforts. The turning point came in the second quarter when Stroud's second touchdown pass extended the lead to two scores, leaving the Jaguars unable to recover.
