In a high-octane matchup, the Washington Commanders outlasted the Philadelphia Eagles with a final score of 51-38 in Week 3 of the 2027 season. Both teams were looking to solidify their standings early in the season, but it was the Commanders who seized the moment and secured the crucial victory at home. Jalen Hurts led the Eagles offensively, throwing for an impressive 319 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his arm talent and playmaking ability. Despite the loss, Hurts found his favorite target, DeVonta Smith, who racked up 100 receiving yards, consistently moving the chains. However, it was Jacory Croskey-Merritt of the Commanders who stole the spotlight on the ground, amassing a staggering 245 rushing yards, which proved pivotal in controlling the tempo of the game. Defensively, the Commanders made key plays when it mattered most, with Trey Amos snagging an interception and Odafe Oweh contributing a sack. The turning point came in the second quarter, as the Commanders' defense forced a crucial turnover that shifted momentum firmly in their favor. Nick Cross led the charge with four tackles, helping to stifle the Eagles’ late-game attempts to rally, solidifying a standout performance for Washington’s defense in this high-scoring affair.
