In a decisive Week 5 matchup, the Buffalo Bills beat the Atlanta Falcons 20-7, solidifying their position in the playoff race. With both teams looking to gain momentum, this contest proved crucial as the season approaches its midpoint. Buffalo's offense was spearheaded by James Cook III, who rushed for 82 yards, providing a solid ground game that kept the Falcons' defense on their heels. Quarterback Josh Allen managed the game effectively, contributing to the scoring with key plays, while Atlanta’s Michael Penix Jr. threw for 192 yards and a touchdown but struggled to find consistency against the Bills' defense. Zachariah Branch was a standout for the Falcons, racking up 104 receiving yards, but his efforts weren't enough to spark a comeback. Defensively, the Bills made their mark with Greg Rousseau delivering a strong performance, tallying 1.5 sacks that disrupted Penix Jr.'s rhythm throughout the game. The turning point came in the second quarter when Rousseau's pressure led to a critical turnover, allowing the Bills to extend their lead and ultimately control the game. Despite a valiant effort from the Falcons, their inability to capitalize on offensive opportunities sealed their fate in this contest.
