In a thrilling Week 6 showdown, the Washington Commanders narrowly defeated the San Francisco 49ers with a final score of 28-24. This victory was crucial for Washington as they aimed to maintain their momentum in the competitive NFC landscape. The game was a back-and-forth affair, showcasing the resilience of both teams. Baker Mayfield was the standout performer for the Commanders, throwing for 304 yards and four touchdowns, demonstrating pinpoint accuracy and command of the offense. His top target, Stefon Diggs, had a monster game, racking up 140 receiving yards, making critical catches that kept drives alive and put points on the board. Christian McCaffrey led the ground attack for the 49ers with 92 rushing yards, but it was not enough to tip the scales in their favor. Defensively, the 49ers had key contributions, with Dre Greenlaw leading the team with nine total tackles, but it was Fred Warner's interception that nearly swung the momentum. However, the turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Mayfield orchestrated a game-winning drive, highlighting the Commanders' ability to execute under pressure. Ultimately, Washington's offense proved too much for San Francisco to handle, sealing the win with a balanced and aggressive approach.
