The New York Jets narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions by a score of 34-28 in a thrilling Week 3 matchup of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to solidify their positions early in the year, but it was the Jets who came out on top in a hard-fought battle. Breece Hall was the star of the night for New York, racking up an impressive 249 rushing yards, showcasing his explosive speed and agility. Jared Goff put forth a valiant effort for the Lions, throwing for 230 yards and three touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to secure the victory. Amon-Ra St. Brown also shone in the receiving game, leading Detroit with 82 yards through the air. Defensively, D'Angelo Ponds made a significant impact for the Jets, not only leading his team with six total tackles but also snagging an interception that proved crucial in the game's outcome. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Ponds' interception halted a Lions drive, allowing the Jets to maintain their lead and ultimately secure the win. Aidan Hutchinson's sack for the Lions added pressure but was not enough to change the tide of the game.
