In a commanding performance, the Detroit Lions topped the Buffalo Bills 31-17 in Week 2 of the 2026 season. The victory solidified the Lions' status as a contender early in the year, while the Bills faced questions about their defensive consistency moving forward. Isiah Pacheco led the charge for Detroit on the ground with 84 rushing yards, providing a strong presence that balanced the offense. Quarterback Jared Goff contributed significantly through the air, efficiently managing the game and connecting with his receivers to maintain scoring momentum. Meanwhile, Josh Allen of the Bills threw for 231 yards and one touchdown, but it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Lions' offensive output. Detroit's defense played a crucial role in securing the win, highlighted by Roger McCreary’s nine tackles and Brian Branch's pivotal interception. The turning point came late in the third quarter when Branch picked off an Allen pass, shifting momentum back to the Lions and allowing them to extend their lead. With consistent pressure from the Lions' defense, the Bills struggled to respond, ultimately sealing their fate in this matchup.
