In a crucial Week 2 matchup of the 2027 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers topped the Houston Texans with a final score of 33-23. This victory not only boosts the Steelers' confidence early in the season but also sets the tone for both teams as they look to establish their identities in a competitive landscape. Offensively, the Steelers were led by quarterback Drew Allar, who threw for one touchdown, while Germie Bernard emerged as a top target with 105 receiving yards. On the ground, Joe Mixon of the Texans had a standout performance, rushing for 120 yards. C.J. Stroud showcased his skills for Houston, accumulating 270 passing yards, but it wasn't enough to clinch the win. Defensively, the Steelers made their presence felt, particularly through Jaquan Brisker, who recorded seven total tackles. However, it was the consistent pressure applied by Will Anderson Jr. of the Texans, who notched two sacks, that kept the game competitive. The turning point came in the second half when the Steelers' defense stepped up, forcing crucial turnovers that ultimately allowed them to hold off the Texans' late-game surge.
