In a commanding performance, the Washington Commanders topped the San Francisco 49ers 35-21 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. The win solidifies Washington's position in the playoff race, while San Francisco struggles to find consistency as the season progresses. Leading the charge for Washington was Jacory Croskey-Merritt, who dominated the ground game with an impressive 204 rushing yards. Quarterback Jayden Daniels contributed significantly as well, throwing for one touchdown to help propel the offense. San Francisco's Brock Purdy also had a solid outing with 219 passing yards, but the Niners couldn't keep pace with Washington's explosive attack. Defensively, Washington's Odafe Oweh was a game-changer, racking up 2.5 sacks that disrupted the San Francisco offense at critical moments. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Oweh's relentless pressure led to a fumble that Washington recovered, allowing them to extend their lead. With every possession crucial, Washington's defense stepped up when it mattered most, ultimately sealing the victory.
