In a commanding performance, the Washington Commanders topped the Dallas Cowboys 34-14, solidifying their position early in the 2026 season. This matchup was critical for both teams, with Washington looking to establish dominance while Dallas aimed to bounce back after a tough opening week. Jacory Croskey-Merritt was the standout on offense for the Commanders, racking up an impressive 150 rushing yards and finding the end zone once. Meanwhile, Dak Prescott of the Cowboys had a solid outing, throwing for 193 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough to overcome Washington's offensive firepower. CeeDee Lamb also made a mark with 88 receiving yards, but the Dallas offense struggled to maintain consistency. Defensively, Daron Payne was a force for the Commanders, recording four total tackles and two sacks, which played a pivotal role in stifling the Cowboys' drives. The turning point of the game came when Sonny Styles intercepted Prescott, shifting momentum firmly in Washington's favor. Overall, the Commanders’ defense effectively contained Dallas, allowing their offense to capitalize and secure a decisive victory.
