The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kicked off the 2027 season with a commanding 28-10 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. With high expectations for both teams, the Buccaneers made a strong statement, showcasing their offensive firepower and solid defense right out of the gate. Baker Mayfield led the charge for Tampa Bay, throwing for 278 yards and a touchdown, while Bucky Irving added a strong ground game with 83 rushing yards. Tetairoa McMillan emerged as a standout receiver, racking up 112 yards and proving to be a reliable target for Mayfield. This offensive trio played a crucial role in establishing the Buccaneers' dominance throughout the game. Defensively, Tampa Bay applied consistent pressure, highlighted by Nick Herbig's half-sack, and managed to stifle the Colts' offensive efforts. The game's turning point came early in the second half, as the Buccaneers' defense forced a crucial turnover that shifted momentum firmly in their favor. Despite Bobby Wagner's impressive 11 tackles for Indianapolis, the Colts could not mount a comeback against a resilient Buccaneers squad.
