In a dominant performance, the Carolina Panthers topped the Detroit Lions 49-7 in Week 2 of the 2027 season. The Panthers came into this matchup looking to build momentum after a shaky start, and they certainly delivered, showcasing their offensive prowess and defensive resilience. Quarterback Kevin Jennings was the star of the show, throwing for 252 yards and four touchdowns, effectively leading the Panthers' high-octane offense. Wide receiver Chris Brazzell II was his favorite target, amassing an impressive 170 receiving yards, while the running game remained steady, allowing Carolina to control the tempo throughout the contest. Jahmyr Gibbs led the Lions in rushing with 53 yards but struggled to find any rhythm against the Panthers' fierce defense. Defensively, the Panthers were relentless, with J'mond Tapp recording a sack that helped stifle any momentum the Lions attempted to generate. The game's turning point came early in the second quarter when Jennings connected with Brazzell II for a long touchdown, extending the lead to an insurmountable 21-0. Despite a couple of bright spots for Detroit, including two interceptions by Ennis Rakestraw Jr., they were unable to overcome Carolina's overwhelming offensive firepower and tenacious defense.
