In a tightly contested matchup, the Buffalo Bills narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 26-23 in Week 2 of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to establish their footing early in the year, but it was the Bills who came out on top in a game that showcased resilience and strategic execution. Jared Goff had a standout performance for the Lions, throwing for 188 yards and two touchdowns, while Jahmyr Gibbs made a significant impact on the ground with 112 rushing yards. Jameson Williams was a reliable target, leading the receiving corps with 71 yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win against a determined Buffalo squad. Defensively, the game turned when Christian Benford intercepted a crucial pass, halting a potential scoring drive by Detroit. The Lions' defense, led by Jack Campbell's eight tackles and a sack from Tyleik Williams, kept the game competitive, but it was Buffalo's ability to make key stops and capitalize on turnovers that ultimately sealed their victory.
