In a dominating season opener, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams with a final score of 49-17. The victory sets a strong tone for the 2026 season, showcasing the 49ers' offensive firepower and their intent to reclaim glory in the league. Brock Purdy was the standout on offense, throwing for an impressive 318 yards and a staggering six touchdowns, leading a 49ers attack that overwhelmed the Rams' defense. While Kyren Williams shined for Los Angeles with 158 rushing yards, it was Purdy's precision and poise that stole the show, connecting consistently with his receivers and driving the ball downfield. Defensively, Ji'Ayir Brown made a significant impact for San Francisco, recording three interceptions that shifted the momentum in favor of the 49ers. The turning point came in the second quarter when Brown’s pick-six extended the lead, leaving the Rams reeling. Despite Aaron Donald's efforts on defense, including five tackles and three sacks, the Rams were unable to contain the relentless 49ers offense, which proved too potent on this day.
