In a thrilling season opener, the Arizona Cardinals narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 24-21, kicking off the 2027 campaign with a hard-fought victory. Both teams showcased their potential, but it was Arizona that emerged victorious in this tightly contested matchup. Carson Beck led the way for the Cardinals with an impressive performance, throwing for 301 yards and two touchdowns. His standout connection with Ryan Williams, who racked up 106 receiving yards, played a pivotal role in keeping the chains moving. Meanwhile, Jahmyr Gibbs of the Lions shined on the ground, rushing for 105 yards, but it wasn't enough to secure a win. Defensively, the Cardinals made critical plays that ultimately influenced the outcome. Josh Sweat recorded two sacks, applying consistent pressure on the Lions' offense, while Jailin Walker secured a key interception that halted a potential scoring drive. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Arizona's defense stood tall, allowing them to hold off a late surge from Detroit and seal the victory.
