The Washington Commanders topped the Miami Dolphins 24-16 in a pivotal Week 16 matchup, strengthening their playoff aspirations as the season approaches its climax. Both teams entered the game with high stakes, as Miami sought to secure its postseason positioning while Washington aimed to solidify their place in the competitive NFC landscape. On the offensive side, Jayden Daniels led the Commanders with a crucial passing touchdown, while Jacory Croskey-Merritt carried the ground game with an impressive 89 rushing yards. For Miami, Malik Willis showcased his aerial prowess with 237 passing yards, connecting well with Jeremiah Smith, who racked up 105 receiving yards. Despite the strong performances, Miami's offense struggled to find the end zone consistently. Defensively, Daron Payne was a standout for Washington, recording an incredible 3.5 sacks that disrupted Miami's offensive rhythm throughout the game. Jacob Rodriguez of the Dolphins made his mark with eight total tackles, but it was Payne's relentless pressure that ultimately shifted momentum in favor of the Commanders. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Payne's sack led to a crucial turnover, allowing Washington to maintain control and secure the victory.
