In a decisive Week 9 showdown, the Atlanta Falcons topped the Cincinnati Bengals 31-17, solidifying their position in the playoff race. This matchup was crucial for both teams as they look to secure their postseason aspirations in the competitive 2026 season. Joe Burrow showcased his skills with 207 passing yards and two touchdowns, but it was Bijan Robinson who stole the spotlight for Atlanta with a remarkable 123 rushing yards. Despite Burrow's efforts, the Bengals struggled to keep pace with the Falcons' offensive attack, which was bolstered by a strong performance from their ground game. Defensively, Jessie Bates III was a standout for Atlanta, recording four total tackles and an interception that shifted momentum in the second half. The turning point came late in the third quarter when Bates picked off a Burrow pass, leading to a crucial touchdown that extended Atlanta's lead and ultimately sealed the victory for the Falcons.
