In a commanding display to kick off the 2026 season, the Detroit Lions topped the New Orleans Saints with a final score of 42-10. The Lions aimed to set a strong tone early in the campaign, and they did just that, asserting their dominance on both sides of the ball. Quarterback Jared Goff was the star of the show, throwing for 302 yards and connecting for four touchdowns, showcasing his precision and poise. Jahmyr Gibbs complemented the aerial assault with an impressive 102 rushing yards, while Jameson Williams emerged as Goff's favorite target, racking up 113 receiving yards. The Lions' offensive depth was on full display, making it difficult for the Saints to keep up. Defensively, the Lions were equally impressive, with Kerby Joseph leading the way with four total tackles and an astounding three interceptions, proving to be a game-changing presence in the secondary. D.J. Wonnum's relentless pass rush resulted in three sacks, further disrupting the Saints' offensive rhythm. The pivotal moment came when Joseph's first interception swung momentum firmly in Detroit's favor, allowing the Lions to capitalize and extend their lead.
