In a tightly contested season opener, the New England Patriots narrowly defeated the Seattle Seahawks 20-16. With both teams eager to start the 2026 season on a high note, this matchup showcased the grit and determination expected in a Week 1 battle. Drake Maye led the Patriots' offense, throwing for 152 yards, while Jadarian Price kept Seattle competitive with a strong rushing performance, racking up 101 yards on the ground. Jaxon Smith-Njigba contributed through the air for the Seahawks, securing 51 receiving yards, but it was the Patriots' offense that managed to find the end zone just enough to secure the win. Defensively, the game pivoted when Kevin Byard III intercepted a crucial pass, giving New England the momentum needed to maintain their lead. Although Seattle's Josh Jobe was a standout with 7 total tackles and Derick Hall added 1.5 sacks, it was the Patriots' ability to capitalize on key moments and make critical stops that ultimately determined the outcome. The season is just beginning, and both teams will look to build on their performances moving forward.
