In a Week 5 showdown of the 2027 season, the Washington Commanders triumphed over the Arizona Cardinals with a final score of 24-7. This victory was crucial for the Commanders as they look to solidify their position in the playoff race, while the Cardinals continue to search for answers as their struggles deepen. Washington's offense was led by quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for 152 yards and a touchdown, showcasing his ability to manage the game effectively. Running back Jacory Croskey-Merritt contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 64 rushing yards, while Jake Ferguson led the Cardinals in receiving with 54 yards, but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback. Defensively, the Commanders made their mark with a key interception from Sonny Styles, which shifted momentum in their favor. The Cardinals’ offensive line struggled to contain the pressure, allowing Kaleb Proctor to record a sack, but it was the Commanders' ability to create turnovers and limit big plays that ultimately turned the tide in this matchup.
