In a tightly contested battle in Week 9 of the 2027 season, the New Orleans Saints topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a final score of 38-28. With playoff positioning on the line, both teams came out swinging, but it was the Saints who ultimately secured the victory. Tyler Shough led the charge for New Orleans, throwing for three touchdowns and contributing significantly to the offense with his poise and precision. Baker Mayfield of Tampa Bay put up impressive numbers as well, racking up 375 passing yards and keeping his team in the game. However, Saints running back Kewan Lacy added a crucial ground game with 62 rushing yards, helping to balance the offense. Defensively, the Saints made their presence felt, with Kyngstonn Villanueva-Asa leading the team in tackles with ten. John Henry Daley notched 1.5 sacks, disrupting Tampa Bay's rhythm, while Jonas Sanker secured a pivotal interception that shifted momentum in the Saints' favor. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Sanker’s pick thwarted a potential game-tying drive, allowing New Orleans to maintain the lead and secure the victory.
