The Dallas Cowboys opened the 2028 season with a commanding 38-28 victory over the Detroit Lions, showcasing their offensive prowess and setting a strong tone for the year ahead. Both teams entered the match eager to make an early statement, but it was the Cowboys who ultimately triumphed in this high-stakes battle. Leading the charge for Dallas was quarterback Cam Ward, who threw for an impressive 287 yards and connected on three touchdown passes. The ground game was bolstered by Jaydon Blue, who rushed for 93 yards, providing the Cowboys with a balanced offensive attack that kept the Lions' defense on its heels. Meanwhile, Detroit's V Wemby put up a valiant effort with 90 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to keep pace with Dallas. Defensively, the Cowboys made pivotal plays that shifted momentum in their favor. Braden Fiske recorded two sacks, consistently pressuring the Lions' offense, while Troy Andersen's interception helped stifle a crucial drive in the second half. The turning point came when Dallas scored back-to-back touchdowns in the third quarter, widening the gap and leaving the Lions struggling to catch up in the final minutes.
