The New York Jets opened their 2028 season with a commanding 45-28 victory over the Miami Dolphins, signaling their intent to compete in the highly competitive AFC East. Both teams showcased their talent, but the Jets' potent offense and opportunistic defense proved to be the difference-maker in this high-scoring affair. Corey Taylor shone for the Jets, throwing for three touchdowns and helping secure a significant lead early on. Meanwhile, Miami's Drew Mestemaker did his best to keep pace, racking up 205 passing yards, but it was De'Von Achane's remarkable 218 rushing yards that kept the Dolphins in the game, showcasing his explosive playmaking ability. Deuce McHusband also had a standout performance with 128 receiving yards, but it ultimately wasn't enough to overcome the Jets’ offensive firepower. Defensively, the Jets made crucial plays at key moments, with Minkah Fitzpatrick intercepting three passes that shifted momentum in their favor. Gideon Espn Lampron contributed with two sacks, pressuring Mestemaker throughout the game and preventing the Dolphins from finding a rhythm. The turning point came in the second quarter when Fitzpatrick's first interception led to a quick Jets touchdown, establishing a lead that Miami struggled to recover from.
