The Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the Atlanta Falcons 24-23 in a thrilling Week 13 matchup that had playoff implications for both teams. With the win, the Lions solidified their position in the postseason hunt, while the Falcons faced a critical setback in their quest for a wild card spot. Leading the charge for Detroit was quarterback Jared Goff, who threw for 338 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers under pressure. Jameson Williams emerged as Goff’s favorite target, racking up an impressive 148 receiving yards, making several key catches that kept drives alive. Meanwhile, Bijan Robinson carried the load for the Falcons with 88 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure a victory. Defensively, the Falcons were led by Divine Deablo, who tallied 17 total tackles, but it was A.J. Terrell Jr. who made a significant impact, intercepting Goff twice to keep Atlanta within striking distance. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Terrell's second interception gave the Falcons a chance to take the lead, but ultimately, they could not capitalize. The Lions’ defense held strong when it mattered most, preserving their narrow victory as time expired.
