In a high-scoring showdown, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Washington Commanders 42-24, solidifying their position in the playoff race during Week 6 of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to establish momentum, but it was the 49ers who ultimately came out on top, demonstrating their offensive prowess and defensive resilience. Brock Purdy was the star of the night, throwing for an impressive 360 yards and four touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers. De'Zhaun Stribling emerged as a key contributor, racking up 150 receiving yards, while Christian McCaffrey added a solid ground game with 84 rushing yards, balancing the San Francisco attack effectively. On the defensive side, the 49ers made crucial plays to keep the Commanders at bay, with Deommodore Lenoir snagging an interception that shifted the momentum. Fred Warner added pressure with a half-sack, but it was the overall team defense that made it difficult for Washington to build any sustained drives. The turning point came late in the second quarter when Lenoir's interception led to a quick touchdown, giving San Francisco a commanding lead they would not relinquish.
