In a highly anticipated matchup, the San Francisco 49ers triumphed over the Washington Commanders with a final score of 31-17 in Week 6 of the 2026 season. The victory solidifies the 49ers' position in the playoff race, while the Commanders will need to regroup as they look to turn their season around. Offensively, Brock Purdy was the star for San Francisco, throwing for three touchdowns and leading his team to a commanding performance. Christian McCaffrey added to the offensive firepower with a stellar 104 rushing yards, while Stefon Diggs kept the Commanders competitive with 136 receiving yards. Jayden Daniels had a solid outing for Washington, passing for 277 yards, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 49ers' offensive onslaught. Defensively, Osa Odighizuwa was a force for San Francisco, recording 2.5 sacks that disrupted Washington's rhythm throughout the game. The turning point came in the second quarter when Purdy connected with his receivers to build a lead that the Commanders couldn't recover from. The 49ers' defense held strong, limiting Washington's scoring opportunities and securing the win as they look ahead to the next challenge.
