The Washington Commanders topped the New England Patriots 34-27 in a thrilling Week 2 matchup of the 2027 season. With both teams vying for early-season momentum, the Commanders emerged victorious, showcasing their offensive prowess and resilience down the stretch. Leading the charge for Washington was quarterback Jayden Daniels, who threw for an impressive 354 yards, connecting with standout receiver Sammy Hartwell for 135 yards. Though the Patriots' Drake Maye tossed two touchdowns, it was the Commanders' balanced attack that ultimately made the difference, with Kareem Culliver adding crucial rushing yards to keep the defense guessing. The Commanders' defense played a pivotal role in the outcome, highlighted by Daron Payne's impactful sack and Trey Amos's eight total tackles. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when a key defensive stop by Washington thwarted New England's potential game-tying drive, allowing the Commanders to hold on for the win.
