In a Week 1 showdown of the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers topped the Los Angeles Rams with a commanding 45-27 victory. The stakes were high as both teams sought to establish momentum early in the season, but it was the 49ers who showcased their offensive prowess and defensive strength to claim the win. Matthew Stafford led the Rams with a strong performance, racking up 307 passing yards and throwing three touchdown passes. However, it was Kaelon Black's steady ground game for the 49ers, contributing 71 rushing yards, combined with the standout receiving efforts from San Francisco's roster, that ultimately propelled them to victory. The balance on offense proved too much for the Rams to overcome. Defensively, the 49ers were relentless, with Mykel Williams leading the charge with 2.5 sacks, disrupting Stafford's rhythm throughout the game. Ephesians Prysock's interception added to the Rams' struggles, serving as the turning point that shifted momentum firmly in favor of San Francisco. The 49ers' ability to capitalize on defensive opportunities was crucial in sealing their decisive win.
