In a thrilling opening to the 2027 season, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 26-20. Both teams were eager to start the year on a high note, but it was the Cowboys who emerged victorious in this tightly contested matchup. Dak Prescott was the driving force for Dallas, throwing for 271 yards and two touchdowns, showcasing his leadership and skill under pressure. Jaydon Blue complemented the passing game with a solid performance on the ground, racking up 86 rushing yards, while CeeDee Lamb proved to be a reliable target, logging 87 receiving yards. Together, they formed a potent offensive trio that kept the Lions' defense on its heels. Defensively, the Lions had their moments, with Jack Campbell leading the way with 10 total tackles and Alim McNeill contributing with a sack. However, the turning point came late in the fourth quarter when the Cowboys' defense held strong, forcing a turnover on downs and allowing their offense to run out the clock. Despite a valiant effort from Kerby Joseph, who recorded an interception, the Lions couldn't capitalize on their defensive opportunities, ultimately falling short in this season opener.
