In a commanding performance, the Detroit Lions decisively defeated the Minnesota Vikings 61-9 in Week 2 of the 2027 season. With this victory, the Lions solidify their position as a formidable contender early in the campaign, while the Vikings face an uphill battle to regain momentum. Malcolm Windham led the charge for Detroit, throwing for an impressive 312 yards and five touchdowns, showcasing his elite playmaking ability. Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly on the ground, racking up 106 rushing yards, while the Lions' offensive unit operated smoothly throughout the contest, leaving the Vikings' defense scrambling. Defensively, the Lions were equally dominant, with Brian Branch making an impact by recording three interceptions, effectively stifling any hope of a Minnesota comeback. The game's turning point came early in the second quarter when Windham connected for a touchdown pass following one of Branch's interceptions, shifting the momentum firmly in favor of Detroit.
