In a decisive Week 2 matchup of the 2027 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars secured a solid 28-13 victory over the Carolina Panthers, showcasing their offensive prowess and tactical superiority. The win puts the Jaguars in a strong position early in the season, while the Panthers will need to regroup after this setback. Trevor Lawrence was the standout performer for Jacksonville, throwing for 246 yards and two touchdowns, consistently finding his rhythm against the Carolina defense. Brian Thomas Jr. emerged as his favorite target, racking up 90 receiving yards, while the Jaguars' running game added another dimension to their offensive attack, contributing to the comprehensive win. Defensively, the Jaguars made their mark with Travon Walker leading the charge, registering two key sacks that disrupted Carolina's offensive flow. This pressure contributed significantly to the game’s turning point, as Walker’s second sack resulted in a critical turnover on downs, allowing Jacksonville to extend their lead and ultimately secure the win. With Chau Smith-Wade's seven tackles, the Panthers showed effort on defense, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Jaguars’ balanced attack.
