In a tightly contested matchup, the Miami Dolphins narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 10-8 in Week 9 of the 2026 season. Both teams were looking to secure a crucial win, but it was Miami that ultimately found a way to hold off Detroit in a game that had playoff implications for both franchises. Offensively, RJ Harvey shined for the Dolphins, rushing for an impressive 109 yards, providing a steady ground game that helped control the tempo. Quarterback Bo Nix contributed with 161 passing yards, including a vital touchdown that proved to be the difference in the low-scoring affair. For the Lions, Jared Goff led the passing attack with 161 yards, while Cedric Tillman made a significant impact with 67 receiving yards. Defensively, the Dolphins were anchored by Jacob Rodriguez, who recorded nine total tackles, consistently disrupting Detroit's offensive rhythm. The game's turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Miami's defense stifled a Lions drive, allowing only a safety instead of a potential game-winning touchdown. Aidan Hutchinson made his presence felt for Detroit with 1.5 sacks, but it wasn't enough to swing momentum back in their favor as Miami secured the victory.
