In a thrilling season opener, the Cincinnati Bengals topped the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 31-21, setting a competitive tone for the 2026 campaign. Both teams were eager to kick off the year on a high note, but it was Cincinnati that came through with a solid performance to secure the victory. Leading the charge for the Bengals was quarterback Joe Burrow, who showcased his arm strength with 370 passing yards and a touchdown. Wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase was his primary target, racking up an impressive 129 receiving yards to keep the chains moving. Samaje Perine contributed a steady ground game, adding 69 rushing yards to help maintain balance on offense. Defensively, the Bengals made crucial stops, highlighted by Cashius Howell's 1.5 sacks that pressured the Buccaneers' offense throughout the game. Although Tampa Bay's Alex Anzalone led all defenders with eight tackles, it was Cincinnati's ability to capitalize on key moments that proved decisive. The turning point came in the fourth quarter when Burrow orchestrated a touchdown drive, giving the Bengals a cushion that Tampa Bay could not overcome.
