In a thrilling Week 1 matchup, the Denver Broncos narrowly defeated the Kansas City Chiefs with a final score of 20-14, kicking off the 2026 season with a statement win. Both teams came in with high expectations, but it was Denver that emerged victorious, showcasing their ability to capitalize on key moments. RJ Harvey was the standout for the Broncos, rushing for an impressive 102 yards, which helped control the tempo of the game. Quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Chiefs put up a valiant effort, throwing for 283 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn't enough to overcome the Broncos' balanced attack. Xavier Worthy also shined for Kansas City, racking up 117 receiving yards, keeping the game competitive until the final whistle. Defensively, Nik Bonitto was a game-changer for the Broncos, recording two sacks that disrupted Mahomes' rhythm and forced crucial mistakes. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Bonitto's pressure led to an interception, allowing Denver to seal the game and secure the win. Drue Tranquill's 10 tackles for Kansas City kept their defense engaged, but ultimately, it was Denver's defensive strategy that proved decisive in this hard-fought battle.
