The Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the Minnesota Vikings 24-21 in a thrilling Wildcard Round matchup of the 2026 season. With both teams vying for a playoff victory, the stakes were high, and the Lions emerged victorious, advancing further in the postseason. Jared Goff was the star of the game for Detroit, throwing for an impressive 314 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to make big plays when it mattered most. On the other side, the Vikings found some success through the air with Jeff Caldwell racking up 137 receiving yards, but it wasn't enough to secure the win. Demond Claiborne also contributed on the ground for Minnesota, leading the team with 56 rushing yards in a solid but unspectacular performance. Defensively, Jack Campbell led the Lions with five total tackles, helping to stifle the Vikings' offensive momentum at key moments. A turning point in the game came in the fourth quarter when Goff connected on a crucial touchdown pass, giving the Lions a lead that they would not relinquish. Despite Dallas Turner's three sacks for the Vikings, it was the Lions' ability to make timely stops that ultimately sealed the game, allowing them to hold off Minnesota's last-minute efforts to tie the contest.
