In a tightly contested matchup, the Dallas Cowboys narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders 24-20 in Week 2 of the 2026 season. Dak Prescott led the charge for Dallas, throwing for 287 yards and three touchdowns, demonstrating his prowess as a quarterback. CeeDee Lamb was his top target, racking up 134 receiving yards and consistently making crucial plays to keep drives alive. Meanwhile, the Commanders' Jacory Croskey-Merritt provided a strong ground game with 83 rushing yards, but it wasn’t enough to secure the win. Defensively, Jalen Thompson stood out for the Cowboys with nine total tackles, helping to contain the Commanders' offense. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Dallas' defense stifled Washington's final drive, preserving the lead and sealing the victory. With Dorance Armstrong contributing two sacks for Washington, it was a clash of solid defensive efforts, but ultimately, the Cowboys' timely plays made the difference.
