In a thrilling opener to the 2028 season, the Jacksonville Jaguars narrowly defeated the Philadelphia Eagles, 23-17. Both teams entered the game looking to set the tone for the year, but it was the Jaguars who emerged victorious in this tightly contested matchup. Trevor Lawrence showcased his talents, throwing for 243 yards and two touchdowns, leading the Jaguars’ offense effectively throughout the game. On the other side, Harlem Berry put forth a strong effort for the Eagles, racking up 141 rushing yards, but it wasn't enough to secure a win. Deion Burks was a reliable target for Lawrence, contributing 78 receiving yards and proving instrumental in key moments. Defensively, the Jaguars made crucial plays to stifle the Eagles' momentum, including an interception by Koi Perich that shifted the game's dynamics. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Lawrence connected with his receivers to extend drives, while the Eagles’ defense, despite Jonathan Greenard's two sacks, couldn’t generate enough pressure to halt the Jaguars' final push. As the clock wound down, Jacksonville's defensive unit held firm, sealing the victory and starting the season on a high note.
