In a hard-fought contest, the Detroit Lions narrowly defeated the Arizona Cardinals 23-17 in Week 5 of the 2026 season. The win keeps the Lions firmly in the playoff hunt, while the Cardinals face challenges in their quest for postseason contention. Leading the Lions' offense was quarterback Justin Fields, who threw for 204 yards, showcasing his ability to move the ball effectively through the air. Running back Jahmyr Gibbs contributed significantly with 68 rushing yards, while Amon-Ra St. Brown was the top target, racking up 57 receiving yards. Despite the strong performances, it was the Lions' ability to convert key plays that ultimately made the difference. On the defensive side, the Lions' Night Train Lane made a crucial impact with an interception, stifling a potential scoring drive for the Cardinals. While Budda Baker of the Cardinals led all players with eight tackles, it was the Lions' defense that rose to the occasion at critical moments. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter when Lane's interception shifted momentum back to Detroit, allowing them to secure the victory.
