In an intense Week 1 matchup of the 2027 season, the Carolina Panthers held off the New York Giants, securing a 28-21 victory. This game marked a critical start for both teams, setting the tone for their respective seasons as they vie for playoff positioning. Jaxson Dart was the standout performer for the Giants, throwing for an impressive 356 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his ability to connect with his receivers under pressure. James Columbus also had a strong showing, racking up 83 receiving yards, helping keep the Giants in contention throughout the contest. However, it was Bryce Young's versatility for the Panthers that proved crucial, as he added 59 rushing yards to complement the passing game. Defensively, Darrell Baker Jr. led the Panthers with six total tackles, ensuring key stops that stymied the Giants' momentum. The game's turning point came in the fourth quarter when the Panthers intercepted a pass, effectively sealing the victory and allowing them to control the clock in the final minutes. Despite a valiant effort from the Giants' defense, including a sack from Alphonso Cano and an interception by Colton Hood, they could not overcome the Panthers' timely plays.
