In a thrilling season opener, the Miami Dolphins narrowly defeated the Washington Commanders with a final score of 21-17. Both teams sought an early advantage in the 2027 season, but it was the Dolphins who emerged victorious, showcasing their resilience and strategy. Riley Nixon led the Dolphins' offense with two touchdown passes, proving instrumental in their scoring efforts. Meanwhile, the Commanders' Jayden Daniels had a strong performance as well, throwing for 221 yards and rushing for an additional 25 yards, with Terry McLaurin making key contributions with 92 receiving yards. Despite the loss, Washington's offensive display indicated promise for the season ahead. On the defensive side, Jordyn Brooks was a standout for Miami, not only leading the team with four total tackles but also snagging an interception that proved crucial in preserving the lead.
